1) You love to speak of freedom that is always paid in blood. Have you thought about the children who are dying in the mud, or in the sand of some far wasteland you have deemed as good as gold. Have you thought of those who never will grow old? 2) You invoke the name of Heaven and the god you seek above, to provide a holy guidance for the country that you love, because it justifies the horror and it makes you think its right, Its always good to have god on your side. 3) And the words of inspiration pouring out of marble halls, barely heard above the drumbeat and the patriotic squall, that tatters everything thats human, killing something in us all. Were the words just empty noises after all? 4) They salute the dead with volleys fired at milit'ry command, as a flag so neatly folded finds a mother's trembling hands, which she accepts with hesitation as if weighted down by stones. Have you thought about the way they bring them home? 5) And the thunder serves a warning and the sky begins to rain, and it purifies the crosses and it sanctifies the slain, who occupy this place of sorrow in the hard and hallowed ground. If you listen you can hear them all around. 6) And our leaders stand on policy and they tell us who to blame, never looking in the mirror for the fear that they're the same, as all the devils they would excorcise, just wearing different clothes, and it only lasts as long as no one knows.
