There's a lot going on in these emails - how to join in? First off though Anonymous, don't you think you should tell us your name? We come in peace ;)

You mention Afghanistan. Things are not all rosy and gay in Afghanistan. They say the only place where the new government really has any control is in Khabul. From what you read and hear, things are still not much better for woman than they were. Outside the capital the country is said to be largely in the control of various war lords, while they say that the taliban is back to controlling one-third of the country - one-third. In all likelihood Osama Bin Laden is still there, the real perpitrator lest we forget of September 11 no matter how much Cheney tries to paint Sadaam in the picture. The news is out there if you look for it, and you don't need to look hard.

As for Iraq, Sadaam was a bad man, no doubt about it. But was he a larger threat than North Korea, who we knew before the Iraq War already had nuclear weapons capabilities, while the UN teams were finding no proof of weapons in Iraq? What about our buddy Pakistan, out selling nuclear weapon technology to other countries? Perhaps we should have invaded them. But no, I forget, instead we're going to try to get them a NATO favored friend recognition - but of course!

We were given the wrong reasons for going to Iraq - what are they really? You say it's not oil, I say it's probably revenge for dad. Whatever, we went. At a cost so far of $150 billion and climbing. Diverting funds, energies and attentions away from Afghanistan, a real source of terrorism. Creating ill will around the world, so that even many of our friend countries think we're a jerk. Diverting further monies away from things in our own country such as education (I met a woman who is a teacher, who told me that her school was so underfunded that there weren't enough desks for students at the start of the year). Health care. Veterans benefits. The list goes on. It's not about fancy Gaps for a lot of people. It's about paying for medical costs for their kids, or trying to afford tuition.

The Iraqi people are better without Saddam, no doubt. And that's great. But if there weren't terrorists there before, there are now. They still have only a 1/3 of the water supply they had before the war. They say that 5,000 to 10,000 people are estimated to have been killed there just from Feb-May 2003 before the war was declared over, and more are being killed every day it seems. Was it 151 in the mosque attacks last week or so? Wounded - thousands upon thousands since the war began. Not to mention the wounded and dead American soldiers, Italian security forces, etc etc.

We could have handled the problem differently, with the backing of the world. Instead we provoke. Why?

Me, I want peace, please.
