Open letter to Sir Richard Bronson, VIRGIN chief.
Dear Richard Bronson, your intention to spend $3 billion to combat GLOBAL WARMING, and an award of $25 million for some kind of air pollution harvesting technology is very praiseworthy, but how about combating the destruction of Planet Earth at the source?
While you were busy and successful in building many businesses and becoming wealthy, I discovered information and ideas that are priceless. Ideas that were either suppressed, ignored, or not even thought of. I offered you, through your corporate offices, even through UPS, a ‘meeting of the minds’ and a ‘fun-educational and profitable part solution’ to combat global warming, with no response from you; even though you said “we need everybody capable of discovering an answer to put their minds to it today, something radical has got to done…”
So, in view of the sad facts, that the DOOMSDAY CLOCK advanced from 7 to 5 minutes to 12, and Stephen Hawking said for the world to wake up and,… Kofi Annan’s statement that we’re “sleepwalking towards disaster and, scientists??? are now engaged in developing a new HYDROGEN BOMB, while the media is feeding the people trivia, gives me the moral right as a global citizen to claim ON BEHALF*, one third of your ‘global warming pledge,’
How can I be so bold and claim one billion dollars? Not for me, but for an independent research foundation, that is beholden to no one, to make peace with men and nature. But for the most immediate urgent issue, I would spend it all to facilitate a world symposium, to help prevent another country from being bombed back to the Stone Age. I’m so ashamed of what’s going on. Hope and PEACE for one billion? That’s only 0.25% of what the IRAQ war costs so far…
Because you didn’t even have the courtesy to respond, I herewith challenge you publicly, as a KNIGHT J, but without dangerous weapons, for a ‘round the clock’ public discussion, where there is no hiding behind name, fame and fortune, and let the people judge; I’ll even go so far to as to say that “the looser shall forfeit all their personal and corporate assets, for ideas and efforts, to save our planet.” If it were in earlier times, I would dare you in the coliseum.
Our planet simply can no longer afford to be ruled by those who have nothing of substance to offer, besides money and a big stick, and mentalities that took over 350 years to apologize that Galileo was right after all, or those who lied about WMD.
As a nine-year-old scarred child survivor of the Second World War in Germany, I want to see an end to injustices, wars, and the massive waste of precious resources and peoples lives, through stupidity and greed. One human being killed, for whatever reason, is one too many.
Ted Turner said in 1992,” If we don’t make the right choices after we have all the information, then we don’t deserve to live.” I couldn’t agree more.
And now for the latest “5 ways to save the world,” a sunshade 1 million miles from Earth, at a possible cost of $392 trillion over a 30year period, is admittedly too expensive to be considered. I just have some down to Earth solutions, for the price of a talk, until March 19,07.0600 GMT,
when this letter will then go to the internet and newspapers.
Sincerely
Gunther Ostermann gco@shaw.ca
