Subject: 5th Anniversary War Vigil/ 4000 Soldiers Deaths

URL: War Vigil

http://political.moveon.org/event/5yearsvigil/45515 to register for the MoveOn.org 5th anniversary of the start of the war vigil.

The death toll of our soldiers who have lost their lives in Iraq is about to reach 4000. We have held a vigil here at our home when the numbers rose to 1000, 2000 and again to 3000. We hoped and prayed this would end before it ever reached 4000. As of today, 3983 of our soldiers have lost their lives in the war in Iraq. 485 of our soldiers have died in the war in Afghanistan. We have no idea of the actual civilian death counts in this conflict, but it is huge. But, human suffering is not limited to death alone. It is homelessness, it is painful injuries, it is lost families, it is destruction of neighborhoods, it is the loss of livelihood, it is pain, it is suffering, it is rage, it is grief, it is hopelessness, it is hatred, it is racism, it is the death of each and every person. Can't we have peace? Can't we address the causes of war?

Enough. We will have a candlelight vigil at our home on the 5th anniversary of the start of this war, March 19. Will you join us. I know it is difficult to commit to an unknown date, but we must do this. We must honor those who have given all in the call of duty to this country. We don't judge the soldiers because they did their duty and beyond. We must take the time to remember the losses. If you can't join us at 6:00 on the evening of the 19, join us in spirit. Take a moment of silence, of prayer, of reflection.

Let there be peace. Work at peace. Let our leaders know we must have peace. Our children demand it.
