Not quite understanding your pity vote reference - believe it was Ford that lost the election. In any event, many would say a Democrat won the last election, with only his brother and his SC buddies giving him the office ;) As for his appeal, I think it's the wealthy folks that he calls his base, no? As for the common Americans, it seems that the patriotism you mention is declining, based on the course of the events that he began. And by the by, I'll take a President having fun in the oval office ANY day to one telling lies and wreaking havoc.
