Worth your consideration. Jon Orlando has done a wonderful job of documenting IVAW and Vets for Peace activities. This new project sounds like something one of our large media outlets should be doing, but won’t. If you can adopt a mile or so I know Jon will make it worth your generosity! Peace, Love & Truth, Kathe --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warriors For Peace is Hitting the Road
While the politicians continue to debate timelines for Iraq and troop level increases for Afghanistan, the wars continue to rage on and the lives of all those involved continue to be devastated. Meanwhile, the number of veterans and active duty GI's speaking out against the wars continues to rise, yet the mainstream press continues to give little if any attention to those speaking out.
In about 10 days I'll be leaving on a 45 day, 7,000 mile road trip across the U.S to document as many of these stories as I can for my Warriors for Peace portrait series (see: http://jonorlandophoto.com/?page_id=17) and I need your help to do it. For this trip I'll be concentrating on the south and south eastern parts of the U.S (more trips will follow over the summer and fall for other parts of the U.S). I'll be working with dozens of veterans in Albuquerque, Austin, Houston, Gainesville, Miami, Asheville, and New York, to name a few, and will be attending events and rallies in Austin, DC and hopefully more. All of the stories and portraits I gather will be brought to you via my website (http://jonorlandophoto.com/), posters, eventually a multi-media piece, a book, more gallery showings, online media sites, magazines, newspapers and as many other places as I can find to distribute them. In order to do all this as effectively as possible I'm asking for your help. My upcoming trip has a budget of 30 cents a mile. That means that a contribution of $30 will get me about 100 miles down the road and a $100 donation would get me about 330 miles further. Whether you can sponsor 5 miles or a 1000, all contributions are greatly appreciated. Contributors of $35 or more will receive a free poster and contributors of $250 or more will receive a complimentary 11x14 inch fine art print of their choice from the series. Please also consider forwarding this email on to your lists, sending people to my online gallery of images and stories, posting the link on your site or blog and anything else you can think of to help spread the project and the messages of the veterans who are resisting war. As I mentioned in my last update- this project was recently accepted by the Blue Earth Alliance so all contributions are tax deductible. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation please make your check out to "Blue Earth" (include a note that it is for "Warriors for Peace") and send it to: Blue Earth Alliance 214 First Avenue S, Suite B-2 Seattle, WA 98104
You can also donate online at http://www.blueearth.org/community/join.cfm#
If you don't need your donation to be tax deductible you can make your check payable to "Jon Orlando Photography" and send it to: Jon Orlando Photography Po Box 4181 Boulder, CO 80306
Thank you so much for your support of this project and this issue. Cheers- Jon O. Jon Orlando Photography www.jonorlandophoto.com 303-827-5434
