Subject: Will you March with Us on Saturday - April 4 - Wall St., New York City

This Saturday, April 4, United For Peace and Justice will March on Wall Street to demand an immediate end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a drastic cut to the military budget, and a fair and just solution to the economic crisis - one that begins the process of making our economic institutions accountable to our communities, not the other way around.

We march to build on the vision of Dr. King in his 'Beyond Vietnam' speech on April 4, 1967, 42 years ago to the day. Then, Dr. King advocated for a united social movement that tackled the triple evils of 'racism, materialism, and war.' Now, this Saturday, we will call for the same thing, in the context of an escalation of warfare in Afghanistan and an ever-deepening economic crisis.

The march is one step as we build the movements we need during this new era - one that sharpens focus on U.S. involvement in Afghanistan, one that works for a 25% cut to the military budget by 2010, and one that seeks to foment public action in response to the financial bailouts in hopes of democratizing the economy.

To help make the March on Wall Street a success, we need all the financial support we can get. We're pushing ahead with an exciting line of work that will follow Saturday's march - National Days of Action from April 6-9 on Afghanistan, a petition drive to cut the military budget, and much more - but we need your support to help us carry it out. Join United for Peace and Justice this Saturday, April 4, to herald in a new era of work:

Assemble at 11:00 AM on Leonard, Franklin, and White Streets, between Broadway and Lafayette, south of Canal Street, in lower Manhattan. The march will begin at 12 noon.

If you can participate in the activities being planned by the Bail Out The People Movement on Friday, April 3, we encourage you to do so.

Finally, especially if you are in the greater New York City area, we hope you will do whatever you can in the next few days to help get the word out. We have leaflets you can download to copy and distribute. Make calls and send email notices to your friends and family. It's not too late to bring people out with you in Saturday!
