"Acutally, if you recall" it was the Kennedy administration that decided Ho Chi Mihn in Vietnam was a "threat" and Johnson that pushed us in with a presidential action without the consent of Congress! And then it was Johnson's decision to escalate it! It was the Nixon administration that began the process of getting out and withdrawal of troops.
At least Bush got Congress to say ok before goin in. Whether they approve or not now doesn't change the fact that they said ok to begin with. Johnson fabricated an attack on the US and said lets go and went with it without even asking Congress. And on top of that absolutely nothing was achieved in Vietnam! At least we got a few good things out of this war.
