The Year of Magical Thinking
Tony Award-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave will reprise her starring role from the 2007 Broadway play “The Year of Magical Thinking” at a special benefit performance at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, on Monday, October 26th at 8:00 PM.
Funds raised will go to programs run by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to provide support to the children of Gaza and southern Israel.
Theatrical director of the 2007 play, David Hare, and playwright Joan Didion, will join Redgrave at the benefit. Special guests Ann Veneman, Executive Director of UNICEF, and Karen AbuZayd, Commissioner General of UNRWA, will introduce the performance.
Tickets range from $45-$150 and can be purchased at www.stjohndivine.org/MagicalThinking.html or by calling (866) 811-4111. Patron tickets and sponsorship packages are also available and include invitations to the post-production reception. For more information about this special event, please contact our office at (202) 223-3767.
The decision to dedicate the performance and funds raised from it to the children of Gaza and southern Israel was made in recognition of the urgent need to provide the support necessary to reclaim their lives and contribute to the rebuilding of their communities after the recent violence. The prospects for long-term peace in the region will depend in part on providing critical assistance so that the children of today can be the peacemakers of tomorrow.
We look forward to seeing you there!
