You know its not hatred against Americans out there. Its hatred of political policy. People in general love you as a person whether American or not. I just returned from a trip to Burma where the gov't hates American policy, hence they hate Bush, but culturally they don't hate individual Americans. I was recieved openly and warmly by people. I also spoke with a couple missionaries who said that in Afghanistan the people openly welcome you whether they like American policies or not. As part of my trip I also spent a week in Germany where they don't like the war but if you're an American they'll buy you all the beer you like so long as you can talk about politics with them.
Many of the people overthere don't like what America does but it is not in the Quran to foster hatred and violence. Jihad is not even actually in it. Jihad and violence is something that is encouraged by Muslim fundamentalists who feel that it is the most effective way to accomplish anything.
Hatred against American policies and hatred against Americans are two separate things.
