The reason there is so much of a forest fire problem now is because of the whole smokey bear propaganda thing. A while back, the U.S started making this whole big deal about not starting forest fires, when in fact forest fires are a natural cycle for trees. By keeping back forest fires for so long, we made it a much larger problem. Now if a forest fire starts without being controlled it's a much bigger problem than it would have been.
