As nice an excuse as that might seem, George W. was well out of college before George Sr. got elected to president. Bush's family certainly does help to get you into some colleges, but the fact of the matter is that if you don't have the brains they will fail you.

Kerry will not neccessarily be better than Bush. His previous political career and even much of what he says now shows that he would not really be against the war. And again, campaigning is historically the time to make false promises to make people like you. There is nothing truly establishing his character for us to actually see whether he will follow through with his promises. People are basing their judgment upon the fact that they don't like the other guy.

Colin Powel has the potential and the ideology to make a phenomenal president. His ideas may slip a little more to the right but then again being a Republican is probably strategic. The GOP is able to rally its members behind a cause and a president and push the ballot through. Even when they don't actually agree they vote and work together to maintain their power. It has taken a truly powerful event to bring the democrats together to rally support for Kerry and its not even yet known whether it will be enough. Democrats are too divided.

The GOP does has a tendency to cater to big business but that is because business is able to provide lots of support money for campaigns and to publicize its views and get their logic for support behind it. The Democrats (even with a liberal media) aren't able to get their message out effectively enough.

I personally believe that the Democrats are the party that will slowly be phased out by the growing green party. Nader is likeable, he knows he can't win but he sees the future. It is the fastest growing political party in America and has shown steady uniform growth.
