Subject: Protest the War on January 20 - 3 Ways to Participate

What's the cost of a lie? When it comes to the Bush administrations reason for going to war - to destroy Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction - the toll has been tremendous. Financially the U.S. has spent over $150 billion to date, and the Pentagon is preparing to ask Congress next month for an additional $100 billion more for 2005. On the human side, the toll continues to mount horrifically: over 100,000 Iraqis killed, over 1,500 Coalition soldiers dead, and Coalition casualties exceeding 15,000.

ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 20 - INAUGURATION DAY - RAISE YOUR VOICES AND PUT AWAY YOUR WALLETS!
On Inauguration Day, January 20, numerous activities are planned in Washington DC and elsewhere to protest the Bush administration's policies of war. Below you'll find information on some of the protests planned in Washington, a link to find activities in other parts of the U.S., and information on an economic boycott that all can participate in, no matter where.

Please join in any activity you can - the madness has to stop!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROTEST IN WASHINGTON DC
* The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition has received a permit to set up bleachers and hold a rally along the inaugural parade route. Any sign that is made of cardboard, posterboard or cloth and that is no larger than 3 feet by 20 feet and 1/4 inch in thickness can be brought to the parade route (of course we encourage you to wear PEACE PLEASE shirts and caps). A.N.S.W.E.R. is further encouraging protesters to line the route of the parade, and strongly advises to people to converge no later than 9am. For further information go to http://www.answercoalition.org/

* Turn Your Back on Bush As the organizers state: "On January 20th, 2005, we're calling for a new kind of action. The Bush administration has been successful at keeping protesters away from major events in the last few years by closing off areas around events and using questionable legal strategies to outlaw public dissent. We can use these obstacles to develop new tactics. On Inauguration day, we don't need banners, we don't need signs, we just need people. We're calling on people to attend the inauguration as they are: members of the public. Once through security and at the procession, at a given signal, we'll all turn our backs on Bush. A simple, clear and coherent message." For more information go to http://www.turnyourbackonbushorg/

JOIN RALLIES OR EVENTS IN YOUR AREA
If you can't make it to Washington DC, dozens of anti-war activities are being planned in cities across the U.S. To find events in your area check the United for Peace and Justice calendar at http://www.unitedforpeace.org

"NOT ONE DAMN DIME DAY"
Inauguration Day has been designated as "Not One Damn Dime Day" in America. On "Not One Damn Dime Day" those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending. During "Not One Damn Dime Day" please don't spend money. Not one damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for necessities or for impulse purchases. Not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.

On "Not One Damn Dime Day," please boycott Walmart, KMart and Target. Please don't go to the mall or the local convenience store. Please don't buy any fast food (or any groceries at all for that matter). For 24 hours, please do what you can to shut the retail economy down. The object is simple. Remind the people in power that the war in Iraq is immoral and illegal; that they are responsible for starting it and that it is their responsibility to stop it.

"Not One Damn Dime Day" is to remind them, too, that they work for the people of the United States of America, not for the international corporations and K Street lobbyists who represent the corporations and funnel cash into American politics.

Not One Damn Dime Day" is about supporting the troops. The politicians put the troops in harm's way. Now 1,200+ brave young Americans and(some estimated) 100,000 Iraqis have died. The politicians owe our troops a plan -- a way to come home.

There's no rally to attend. No marching to do. No left or right wing agenda to rant about. On "Not One Damn Dime Day" you take action by doing nothing. You open your mouth by keeping your wallet closed.? It doesn't really matter that everyone will be out spending what they didn't the next day -- a point or two will have been made.

For 24 hours, nothing gets spent, not one damn dime, to remind our religious leaders and our politicians of their moral responsibility to end the war in Iraq and give America back to the people.
