The Pentagon's strategy is not merely to recruit high school seniors for military job slots. Its strategy s to go after people as young as possible and influence the way they think. There is no rationale for ranks speaking at an elementary school other than to propagandize and shape children's values. It's the sme reason why they are forming the Young Marines in middle schools and taking elementary school tudents out to military bases and ships.
This approach by the Pentaon creates receptivity to recruiters when children grow old enough to enlist, and also receptivity to a more conservative, militaristic agenda when they grow old enough to become part of the voting population.
This is the militarization of society, which has serious long-term consequences. It should be resisted and protested every bit as much as high school recruiting.
