buddha was not a false prophet,he never claimed to be prophet, all he ever claimed to be was a man. he was a child of god just like you,i and Jesus. And if that is how you believe, a muslim can say that jesus is a false prophet, but in your heart you don't feel that to be true. Jesus and Buddha preached peace. and honestly i don't know that much about the koran, but from the muslims i have met, they don't believe in violence. jesus and buddha preached about peace and understanding. and i would highly recommend that you read "The Living Buddha, Living Christ".
Personnally, I grew up in a Christian Household and in Christianity found alot of hypocrisy, espically in the bible so therefore i don't hold alot of faith in it, that is just me though, some do find solace in the bible and that is good, but they are not the ones who refer to the bible to incite fear among the massess. All faiths worship the same God. Just because some have a different name for him doesn't make them any less venerated in God's eyes. Just because a man prays and believes in Christ, Mohammed, or Buddha for that matter, doesn't make him a man of God. Is he praying for power, money or war? Or is praying for the benifit of all(not just christians, jews, muslims, buddhist, etc) man kind? God loves all his children, be they a christian, a jew, a muslim or even a buddhist. all souls are pure when they are born, there are no original sins, the only sins a person has are the ones he has made in his own lifetime. there is no justification for killing another human being, doesn't the new testment tell you to turn the other cheek. doesn't christ(as well as buddha) say to forgive,to turn the other cheek. how can anyone who preaches for peace love and understanding be a false prophet.
i think for myself, i try to do what is morally correct. Christ was a pacifist and a liberal in his time. he never raised a fist or sword against another man. and christ was not a christian he was a jew. and it is believed that between the ages of 14 and 31, he went east to asia and studied eastern philosophy (budhhism, hinduism) and brought those teachings to his people. it is believed that he became a great yogi and was venerated as a saint.
I don't mean to offend you either, but the God I believe in is a loving and doesn't punish his children in that way. Not all the people in New Orleans led unmoral lives, and if that is how you believe, is las Vegas next, Los Angles, how about Texas.
I don't pray to a statute, i may meditate on the teachings of that particular person, but i pray to god.
One more thing, buddhism is a philosophy on how to live a moral life. There are many Christian and Jewish Buddhist. please before you make assumptions about a person's beliefs, please read a little about it.
