Dear Sir,
I am so saddened by the loss of Augie. I am a U.S.N. vet and take it very personal when Marines die. They are the heart and soul, the best of the best. That aside, I just happened to flip through the Channels today and came upon that disturbing scene in Ron Kovic's Born on The 4th of July where Tom Cruise and Willem Dafoe now confined to wheelchairs, cursing each other and spitting on each other on a desolate road in Mexico. I shed tears, but then realized, the fault lies with the incompetence, and indifference of certain types of men, like Nixon, and like Bush, and the incompetence of the men and women they appoint to oversee, protect, and like the abomination of Katrina, to rescue us. War in Iraq is a sacrifice by the many to satisfy the greed of the few. The few are outspoken, and have the power, and it is true that opposition to the war has been whispered, but I promise, though I am guilty of whispering, those days are long gone. And I will voice and fight these very evil powers through activisim and speaking out until all these troops are home or die trying. I am sorry for the loss of your son. I will pray for your broken heart, I mourn with you, and I am worried about this America I love, and the America Augie loved. The real enemies of freedom are those who continue to take life unecessarily in the name of Freedom.

God Bless You
