Subject: For those attending the 3/20 rally in NewYork - protest the barricades |
|
|
While the city of New York has given a license to the organizers of the rally on March 20, the police plan to have protesters assemble inside pens, or barricaded areas, during the pre- and post-march rallies. The use of these barricades significantly impedes the ability of peaceful people to assemble and mingle, and is designed to discourage people from attending the rally.
It's critically important that we work to have the plan to use barricades stopped. Please take the brief amount of time it takes and call the offices of both the mayor and the police chief. Right now approx. 350 people have called the police chief to protest - we need more. Simply call the numbers shown below and lodge your protest. It's an easy process (they just ask for your name and number), but an important act to take.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg phone: 212-788-3000 fax: 212-788-9711
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly phone: 646-610-5410 fax: 646-610-5865
